Crows - by Kerry Doran

Kerry A. Doran

I am a freehand artist, illustrator, writer, and designer from the Washington, D.C., area. Art has always been a part of my life. I knew I wanted to be an artist by the time I was four years-old and have always loved exploring different art techniques and media.

I received a BFA in Illustration from Savannah College of Art & Design with a Minor in Creative Writing. Many years later, I received an Associate's Degree in Graphic Design from Montgomery College. I love learning, though, so my educational journey is never really over.

Many of my paintings and drawings are in private collections. My art has been categorized as realism, expressionist, abstract expressionist, and sometimes a combination of various styles. I prefer to work from observation or imagination, but often elements of both. I work with most traditional media, primarily graphite, ink, watercolor, acrylic and oil paints, charcoal, crayon, and etching. I also like to mix mediums.

I work with digital media for both my illustration and design work. However, I often blend traditional and digital media for my illustration pieces. My illustrations and designs have been used for businesses in the region.

My writing includes content for websites and social media, marketing content, grants, and white papers. My creative writing includes poetry, short stories, fiction, and middle-reader fiction.

When I'm not in my studio, I'm likely talking to my son about music or my to dog about the mysteries of life.
